What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is a primary healthcare that is built on the foundational belief that the body has an innate capacity to repair and adapt. Naturopathic doctors are educated and trained in accredited naturopathic medical colleges. They diagnose, prevent, and treat acute and chronic illness to restore and establish optimal health by supporting the person's inherent self-healing process.

Naturopathic medicine emphasizes addressing the causes of disease and there is a focus on physical, mental, emotional, environmental and social factors that may be contributing to a person’s state of being.

INITIAL CONSULTATIONS

Your initial consultation will involve an in-depth gathering of information regarding your chief concerns and health history. A physical exam may be performed and labs may be recommended to guide your treatment plan. An individualized treatment plan will be created, catered directly to your needs.

FOLLOWUP CONSULTATIONS

These are used to track progress around your health journey and address new concerns . Modalities that may be involved in your treatment plan include acupuncture, botanical medicine, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, injection therapy, intravenous therapy, clinical nutrition and lifestyle counselling and lab testing/re-testing.

Treatment involves injection of a local anesthetic that is used to reset nerve cell physiology. Prolotherapy harnesses the ability of your body to restart the healing process. By injecting an irritant solution (dextrose), inflammatory cells, growth factors, blood etc are recruited to the site of pain and pain can be reduce.

Prolotherapy can be useful in many conditions, but common ones include:

There is no pressure to receive treatment on the same day as the consultation, but same day treatment is an option.

  • INTRAVENOUS (IV) THERAPY

IV therapy allows for the acute administration of high volumes of nutrients and minerals. As it goes straight into the bloodstream, all nutrients delivered are absorbed, allowing for maximal therapeutic benefit (vs. oral supplementation only allows for a fraction of nutrients to be absorbed.)
